Carolyn McDaniel Announces Candidacy For County Attorney

Carolyn McDaniel, a practicing attorney since 1988 and current Republican candidate for County Attorney, has lived and been active in local politics in Fort Bend County since 1991.

“I am the only candidate who actively practices law and tries cases. As such I am the most qualified for this position and will bring a new outlook to this county,” McDaniel said. “We need to bring Fort Bend into the 21st century. We want our county to be well known but not for the controversies that have been created over the past several years. I want everyone to see that we have well educated and honorable political county officials and will bring honesty, integrity and accountability to the office.”

She currently resides in Needville on her ranch raising Longhorn cattle. She has two sons, Charles McDaniel (deceased) and Larry McDaniel who is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Carolyn is presently engaged to Harold Ward, a local commercial real estate broker.

Since moving to Fort Bend County she has practiced law, concentrating in the areas of family, civil and criminal law. In 1995, she joined in partnership with Jeffrey McMeans and formed the
successful Law Firm of McDaniel & McMeans, LLP in 2004 where she manages the firm and its employees. In addition to her law firm, she also is the prosecutor for the City of Needville.

Carolyn received her B. S. Degree in Biology from the University of Houston in 1976 after being employed by NASA doing research during the Sky Lab program. After graduation she worked for Reliant Energy in their Environmental Department. She graduated from law school in 1988, passing the bar examine on her first attempt.

McDaniel is a member of the Fort Bend Bar Association, as well as the Fort Bend Criminal Defense Bar.

Currently, Ms. McDaniel sits on the Board of Directors of the Fort Bend Master Gardeners and is an Associate Member of the Sugar Land Exchange Club. She is also the past President of the Fort Bend Exchange Club. She also served on the Commission to Study Coastal Wetland.
