The Elkins Band program is in desparate need of a third band director in order for our kids to have the same opportunities as other High Schools in Fort Bend.
The enrollment indicates a need and to be fair all HS at this level should have the same provisions. One HS should not be favored over another and that is what is happening. Do some investigating and you will find that there are schools in Ft Bend that are affording their students better opportunities through more instructors.
Music is what keeps my son interested in school. If not for the band program he would be home schooled, and if Elkins can not provide adequate instruction in music I will have to remove him and provide private instruction.
My tax dollars are providing instruction at Clements HS, but not at the school my son is zoned to attend. What’s wrong with this picture? He loves percussion and Elkins can not provide him the instruction he needs without the proper number of personel. Do I have to live in the Clemenst HS area to get what I’m paying for?
You tell me.
Why are the Board members willing to give Clements students teachers and not my child? The almighty numbers indicate that Elkins has a need, but evidently not the clout to aquire what our students need.
