Bodies believed to be a missing 23-year-old Fort Bend County woman and her 17-year-old boyfriend were recovered Friday afternoon in northeast Houston.
As of Saturday morning the bodies had not been positively identified, but members of the non-profit search and rescue organization Texas EquuSearch halted their search for Maria Chrisalee Aparece and Huy Ngo once the two bodies were found.
Law enforcement officials told Click2Houston a person arrested on Friday led them to the bodies, in dense vegetation in a field in the 10400 block of Gateway Drive. Police believe the bodies had been there for at least two days.
The victims’ families learned of the discovery at a search command center set up by EquuSearch.
Aparece, of Elder Bridge Drive near Sugar Land, had driven to Houston at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, to deliver a set of keys to Ngo.
Police say Aparece’s blue 2003 Toyota Matrix was recovered by the Humble police at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, at an apartment complex at 615 Wilson Road in Humble.
Police made the discovery during the arrest of four people they believe were involved in several robberies, including a home invasion.
A Fort Bend County Sheriff’s spokeswoman said investigators “have reason to believe this vehicle was used in a car jacking near Mission Bend.”
But initially, investigators were told by the four that Aparece and Ngo had been left safely on the side of the road.
Police said autopsies will be performed to determine cause of death.
