Santa Behind The Badge Brightens Christmas For Richmond Children

The Richmond Police Department helped make Christmas a little brighter for about 100 children this year, at the annual Santa Behind the Badge banquet on Thursday.

Each year Richmond police officers distribute applications to Richmond-area families who may be in need of help during the holidays. Families accepted into the Santa Behind the Badge Program are invited to a banquet, where children receive gifts and enjoy a holiday dinner.

This year’s event, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Family Life Center in Richmond, was catered by Schulze’s BBQ of Rosenberg. Gifts were donated with the special assistance of Calvary Episcopal School, Lamar High School’s Criminal Justice Association, Richmond CPA alumni, Wal-Mart of Richmond and numerous private donations.

Santa was among the guests who helped pass out gifts to the families. Pictures of the event can be seen on the Richmond Police Department web site.
