U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, has filed incorporation papers creating an exploratory committee allowing him to collect contributions for a run for president in 2008.
According to news reports, Paul filed the papers on Thursday. In 1988, Paul ran for president as the Libertarian nominee. Kent Snyder, a staffer during the 1988 campaign, has been named chairman of Paul’s exploratory committee.
Paul reportedly will officially announce his bid in the next few days.
