4 Teenagers Busted, 2 More Sought In Apartment Robbery

Four Alief-area teenagers have been arrested, and charges are outstanding on two more, in a November incident in which seven victims were held at gunpoint and robbed.

Charged with aggravated robbery and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail in Richmond are: Dominique Johnson, 17; Lavar Johnson, 17; Michael Richardson, 18; and Ryan Tate, 18, according to a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department report.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Terriann Carlson said the four were indicted by a Fort Bend County grand jury recently on charges of aggravated robbery.

Michael Vanegas, 17, and an unidentified juvenile also have outstanding charges. Vanegas remains at large, Carlson said, and she was unsure whether the juvenile has been arrested.

The charges stem from a Nov. 10, 2006, incident at Woodbridge Apartments, 11565 State Highway 6 near Sugar Land. Deputies responding to a robbery call found that seven victims had been inside a gated area at the apartment complex when they were approached by a group of armed men.

“The suspects ordered the victims to place their hands on a car, and they were patted down,” a sheriff’s report states. “After taking their cell phones, wallets and an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects were witnessed fleeing the area in a red Chevrolet truck.”

The Fort Bend County Gang Unit responded to the scene and investigated the robbery, leading to first-degree felony charges against the six suspects.

Carlson said investigators think the six may have been involved in several other robberies both in Fort Bend County and in the jurisdiction of some city police departments.

Investigators are asking that anyone with knowledge of any robbery incidents involving these suspects please contact the sheriff’s office at 281-341-4665.
