Union Pacific Railroad plans to partially close the railroad crossing on State Highway 6 at U.S. 90A in Sugar Land over the weekend, forcing traffic detours on Friday and Saturday nights.
The crossing is expected to be closed to southbound traffic at 11 p.m. Friday, and will reopen on Saturday at 8 a.m., according to information from the city of Sugar Land. Then the crossing will close again from 10 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Southbound traffic on State Highway 6 will be detoured around the crossing, to Voss Road, onto Burney Road and down Main Street to U.S. 90A, according to the City of Sugar Land.
Union Pacific will install new crossing panels during the closure.
