As a professional in the game design and simulation industry I am utterly appalled at the ignorance of this community. This kid, an obviously intelligent high school senior who has a skill set most of these people couldn’t even understand, is now having his entire life train wrecked because he further pursued a hobby that almost every high school student alive enjoys?
He dared to apply his mind and create something for him and his friends and instead of accolades or even a simple follow up of intentions, the entire community caves in to to media hype and social anxiety like a pinata, doing nothing but further damaging the communication that is already failing because some inept ignorant got their hackles raised for a second? Come on!
What’s next, make all game developers terrorist threats? Make all arcades illegal? Ban the creation of game levels by non-authorized personnel and persecute those who break that law? Gee, sounds like the terrorists already won in this community.
If people like this continue to ruin other peoples lives out of their own inane fears then the rest of this country is going to follow suit of this pathetic incident… Good job! The SS would be proud of the school board, maybe even a tip of the hat from Stalin himself. Sickening…
