Bill Atkinson has been hired as Missouri City’s first assistant city manager, starting work on April 18.
Prior to coming to Missouri City, Atkinson served as city manager for Sachse, near Dallas. There, he negotiated contracts for all aspects of city services, directed the completion of the city’s comprehensive plan, and represented the city during negotiations of an interlocal agreement for the construction of the President George Bush Turnpike.
Atkinson is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), American Planning Association and the Texas City Management Association. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in public administration from the University of Central Arkansas and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Arkansas. He is also certified by ICMA as a city manager.
