The Spirit of Freedom Republican Women’s Club is presenting GOP activist Cathy Adams, who will speak about the proposed and controversial Trans Texas Corridor at 11:30 May 18 at the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce offices.

The Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) is a proposed multi-use, statewide network of transportation routes in Texas that will incorporate existing and new highways, railways and utility right-of-ways. Specific routes for the TTC have not been determined.

Adams has been involved in Republican activities in many ways: an election judge, a member of the district, state and national resolutions/platform committees; and a delegate to the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 Republican National Conventions. She is a member of the Northwood Republican Women’s Club in Dallas and serves on the Advisory Board for the Young Conservatives of Texas, an independent, non-partisan, youth organization dedicated to the preservation of individual liberties and freedoms through limited government.

Adams has also been involved in the pro-family movement. She joined the board of the Dallas Eagle Forum in the mid-1980s, and then served as president for five years until being appointed president of the Texas Eagle Forum in 1993.

Capitol Inside’s Texas Lobby Power Rankings 2005, 2006 and 2007 placed Cathie first on their list of lobbyists for causes. “Cathie Adams is a well-known name in Texas grassroots politics as the longtime leader of the Texas Eagle Forum. She’s a staunch conservative who helped draft the national Republican platform in New York City in 2004, but she’s not afraid to go against the grain of the GOP establishment when certain principles are at stake.”

Attendees at the Friday, May 18 lunch meeting will have an opportunity to talk with Adams prior to her address. Guest are welcome. Lunch will be served at noon ($7.50). The Chamber offices are located at 445 Commerce Green, Sugar Land.
