Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force agents in Rosenberg seized more than $270,000 and arrested a Goliad man on charges of money laundering, according to a sheriff’s report.
Narcotics agents involved in separate investigations also have arrested a Stafford man for distribution of cocaine, and a Waxahatchie man on charges related to the distribution of methamphetamines.
Manuel Arrizola, of Goliad, was arrested recently in the 2800 block of U.S. 59 in Rosenberg, where drug agents found him in possession of $272,377.42 in cash, according to the sheriff’s report.
“A narcotics investigation was conducted and evidence gathered… indicating these funds were from drug sales of a drug organization,” the report said. The cash Arrizola had was then seized under provisions of Chapter 59 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
Arrizola was charged with first-degree money laundering and incarcerated in Fort Bend County Jail in Richmond, in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Arrested in a separate incident was Frank Lira of Stafford, who was arrested after narcotics agents conducted a search of a residence in the 4500 block of Ludwig Lane in Stafford. Agents said they found an unspecified amount of cocaine, and electronic scales and other drug paraphernalia “indicative to distributing cocaine.”
Lira was charged with possession or manufacture of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and was placed in the county jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Finally, drug agents arrested Jerrod Koch of Waxahatchie at the 9400 block of State Highway 6 in Sugar Land, according to the sheriff’s report. Agents did not say whether Koch had drugs in his possession when arrested. However, agents had been “targeting two suspects distributing methamphetamines in the county,” and made the bust after learning the Koch “recently arrived in Fort Bend County for the purpse of distributing” the meth.
Koch, who was armed with a pistol when arrested, was charged with possession or manufacture of a controlled substance with intend to deliver, and was placed in the county jail in lieu of $60,000 bond.
