A 67-year-old woman’s life was threatened and her car stolen Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of a 99 Cent Store on State Highway 6.
According to a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department report, deputies were called to the store, at 9440 State Highway 6 South, at about 12:45 p.m. where the interviewed the woman.
She told deputies she had items into her car that she had just purchased, returned a shopping cart to the store and was walking back to the car when a man with a white T-shirt wrapped around his right hand confronted her.
He “informed the victim he had a gun and to hand over the keys to the vehicle or he would kill her,” the sheriff’s report said. “The victim complied…and then ran into an Ace Hardware Store.”
The thief – described as a black man 18 to 20 years old, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slim build and wearing blue jeans – drove north on Highway 6 in the woman’s blue 2006 Chevrolet Corsica, the sheriff’s report said.
As of Wednesday morning, the car had not been recovered. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.
