Lamar CISD Football Being Broadcast Live On Internet For Third Year

For the third consecutive year Foster, Lamar, and Terry High Schools will have most of their varsity football games broadcast live over the internet.

In addition to these broadcasts, some basketball, baseball and softball games will also be carried live this year – and archived for later listening – at Texas Sports Radio Network.

The first broadcast will be Friday night August 31 as Waller visits Lamar Consolidated High School. In addition, Needville High will have their Sept. 28 game against Columbus broadcast as well.

“One new exciting feature that is being introduced this year is the ability for Internet-capable cell phones to be able to connect and receive live or archived game streams” said Steven Beers of Diamond Star Productions, the color commentator on the broadcasts.

An Internet-capable cell phone will act just like a portable radio when listening to these games, except the range is virtually unlimited due to the cell phone networks.

Beers also indicated that the archived games will be saved in a downloadable format for use with many MP3 players.

LCISD Internet football game broadcasts began two years ago at KFRDradio.com. “KFRDradio.com provided a great platform to get this started” Beers said, “however, the demand from the listeners gave a clear message, we needed the ability to have the game more accessible, and TSRN provides us the platform and streaming to do just that.”
