Only Outcry For Grand Tollway Is From Developers

I hope the State and Federal authorities realize The Grand Tollway is a needless, wasteful idea.

There is NO need or outcry for further evacuation routes from Brazoria County, and no area of Fort Bend County is in a mandatory evacuation zone. HWY36 and HWY288 are designated and were recently improved to handle that. There are no traffic jams on FM762, FM1462 or HWY288 south of near Pearland.

While every state has the right to determine long term transportation needs and to plan for future growth, The Grand Parkway Association has no right to manipulate facts and figures to create one of the biggest land grabs in Texas history. Each segment is being contested by landowners, and loudly praised by developers and politicians.

Large tracts of land can continue to be developed for residential use without $500 million of government assisted funding.

The environmental study is eight years old (14 years old by start of construction). The area is still very much undeveloped, and will be harmed by miles of concrete and blocked drainage.

We ask that you consider our comments and defer this project to a time in the future where it is more useful to transportation needs in our county areas.
