Penneys, Academy Opening New Stores At Brazos Town Center II

About a year after Rosenberg City Council gave direction for the final plans of Brazos Town Center II, one major retailer has just opened, a second opens next week, and several others are on the way.

JC Penney quietly opened its store at the center last week prior to a Friday grand opening. According to developer NewQuest Properties’ Eric Walker, Academy will open its newest sporting goods store on Tuesday.

Phase II of the largest retail project in the Rosenberg-Richmond market consists of about 125 acres of retail on the south side of U.S. 59 near the F.M. 762 exit – directly across the highway from the original Brazos Town Center, which already boasts numerous national retail brands.

Other stores slated to open soon in the two-phase project include Mattress Farm, Kay Jewelers, GNC health products, a Game Stop and a Dickey’s Barbecue Pitt restaurant, Walker said on Friday.
