Gratitude For Help From Texas Baptists

My husband Michael and I would like to express to the Texas Baptist Men how deeply grateful we are for their help in clearing out the branch and tree limb damage at our home after the ice storm in Oklahoma City on Dec. 10, and also for the help they gave many others in our city and state.

Monday our renter Gerald called me at work and told me branches had fallen on his car and later called back and told me his door was blocked so he couldn’t get out of his house. Mike and I both work at the same place and we were both at work when he called. Mike gets off work at 5:30 p.m. so we didn’t get home till after 6 p.m.

Mike went back to try to move the branches enough so Gerald could at least get out his door and it made him very ill, he’s off Tuesday through Thursday every week anyway, but he even had to call in sick Friday because he wasn’t over it. He went back to work Saturday but he was still sick, he also worked Sunday and Monday while he was still sick.

We heard about this group on the news so we thought we would call and see if they would come out and move the limbs and branches away from Gerald’s door and the fence he goes in and out of because he had limited room to get in and out and was very
restricted and we weren’t going to be able to get to it any time soon. Gerald is a 67-year-old disabled vet with a trach and he uses oxygen, especially at night. We never expected what they did after they got here, we just thought they would move the limbs and branches away from Gerald’s door, path, and fence, but they cleared out all the branches and limbs and also asked if we wanted them to cut down others that were threatening to other structures, which they also did, and then they stacked it all out by the curb. I’m probably not even aware of all they did, but again, we are so thankful.

They are a wonderful group of men. They were an answer to our prayers. God bless Gerald F., Larry C., Joshua P., Ray M., Rey V., and Frank P., and all the men from the other groups that came here to help.
