U.S. Rep. Nick Lampson is holding an economic summit, the 2008 Action Summit: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Renewable Energy, Jan. 7 from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland.
The economic summit is open to the public and admission is free, although there is a $21 fee for those who stay for lunch. It is coordinated by the Public Forum Institute, an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization, and is intended to:
* provide ideas for creating an environment that will empower entrepreneurs and small businesses;
* identify promising opportunities for further development of renewable energy businesses;
* establish “smart growth” guidelines for urban planning and affordable housing, promoting “green” public transportation and promoting investments to local infrastructure; and
* examine the necessary steps to educate and train local residents while making priority investments into math, science, engineering and technology education to create a pipeline for high tech and entrepreneurial jobs.
