Fulshear artist Eugenia Algaze Garcia has been named the recipient of a Special Recognition Merit Award for her artwork in the 10th Annual Faces Juried Online International Art Exhibition.
The art competition is sponsored by the Upstream People Gallery and received over 350 entries from around the world. Seventy-one artists were selected for recognition by juror Larry Bradshaw, a professor of art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
In judging Garcia’s work, Bradshaw noted that she had a unique approach in the use of the figure.
“Particularly unique are her uses of trees with the figure, especially ‘Protect & Defend’ reiterating the mother and child theme, except that this is special since it is a father and child theme,” Bradshaw wrote.
The entire exhibition, include Garcia’s work, will be featured at www.upstreampeoplegallery.com through February of next year.
