Burglars Strike At 3 Holiday Cleaners Stores, First Colony Mall Kiosk

Thieves with a possible penchant for clothing and make-up hit the Sugar Land area on Wednesday.

Hardest hit was Holiday Cleaners, where burglars broke into three stores, taking little but causing considerable damage.

Sugar Land police investigated two of the break-ins. One was reported to police at 7:02 a.m., where someone smashed in the door at a Holiday Cleaners at 345 Soutthwestern Blvd.

A police department spokeswoman said the thieves rifled through clothes at the store, but appeared not to have taken anything. A bag under the counter, containing cash, wasn’t touched.

The city police also investigated a Holiday Cleaners break-in at a store at 4550 Sweetwater Blvd., reported Wednesday morning. At that store, theives broke a window to gain entry, and took $25 in cash.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary reported at a third Holiday Cleaners, at 6350 Highway 90A just outside of Sugar Land. No information was immediately available about what, if anything, was taken in that incident.

Sugar Land police also are investigating a break-in reported late Wednesday morning at First Colony Mall, where thieves made off with nearly $1,200 in make-up and skin-care products from a Pro-Active kiosk.

It was the second mall kiosk burglary in less than a week, as burglars stole cell phones and accessories from two T-Mobile kiosks on Saturday.

Also on Wednesday, a police spokeswoman said burglars broke into Lenny’s Sub Shop at 11420 Dairy Ashford Road, breaking the front door and a window, and breaking the lock on a safe. Store employees reported just $10 in cash was missing.
