Sugar Land Police Seek ‘Tip-toe Bandit’ In Last Week’s Bank Robbery

Sugar Land Police detectives have released pictures of a man they’re looking for, dubbed the “Tip-toe Bandit,” who robbed a Washington Mutual Bank branch last week.

Police said they gave the robber the nickname “because he had to stand on his toes to reach across the counter” and take money he’d demanded from a teller at the bank, at 4997 Sweetwater Blvd.

The suspect is described as a white man about 5 feet, 3 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a slim build. During the robbery, he was wearing a black or dark blue hat, sunglasses, black pants, black shoes with horizontal stripes on the side, a black shirt with the letters GAP EST, and black and white gloves similar to baseball batting gloves.

The Sweetwater Washington Mutual branch has been a favorite robbery target. Last week’s was at least the third robbery since 2006.
