During tonight’s board meeting, Fort Bend ISD trustees will hear from the president of the Fort Bend Employee Federation about recent recommendations about the district’s salary structure made by the Texas Association of School Boards.
Fort Bend Employee Federation President Karrie Washenfelder, will address the board when it convenes for its regular meeting tonight at 7 p.m. Washenfelder will speak about the recommendations made in a TASB salary study, as well as well as the proposals submitted by the 1,800 members of the employee federation.
The school district contracted with the TASB earlier this year to conduct a study and evaluation of the district’s compensation structure.
In other action, trustees are also expected to act on proposed changes to the Student Code of Conduct, an employee dental plan, renewal of an agreement for employee medical benefits and an agreement for a pharmacy benefit administration.
Board members will also continue to work on finalizing a budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1. Tonight, they are expected to vote on setting a time, date and place to conduct a public budget meeting, as well as setting proposed debt service and maintenance and operations tax rates.
Prior to the public portion of the board meeting, trustees will meet in closed-door executive session to discuss the “purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property” and personnel issues. The personnel issues will include the appointment of elementary school principals, middle school associate and assistant principals, high school associate and assistant principals and a chief auxiliary services officer.
The meeting will take place at the Fort Bend ISD administration building in Sugar Land.
