Work Has Begun On Amenity-laden Software Maker’s Sugar Land Headquarters

Ground has been broken on what will become the newest - and possibly one of the most feature-rich - corporate headquarters to relocate to Sugar Land: construction software developer HCSS.

Dirt began turning Wednesday on what will become a one-story, 45,000-square-foot campus-style headquarters set on eight acres, which “will offer amenities that the company believes will help attract top employees and enhance its award-winning reputation as one of the best places to work in Texas, HCSS said.

The building also will allow the company to double its work force, from its current staff of 112 to 220 people.

HCSS will move to the new building, near the intersection of West Airport Boulevard and Eldridge Road, in August. The company said it will vacate the Houston office building where it’s rented space since 1999.

“While we’re happy with our current office space, we feel that the move to this new facility in a smaller community will provide huge benefits for hiring and retaining the employees who will help create and service the software that will help our customers grow their businesses,” said HCSS President Mike Rydin.

The new building will be square, and will enclose an interior courtyard with wireless Internet access “and tables with electricity nestled among generous landscaping, enable employees to work outside,” the company said.

Also included on-site will be a small gym with half-court basketball, and an exercise room. Outside will be a 600-meter crushed-granite jogging trail, a 200-meter running track and a small soccer field. Shower facilities will accommodate six.

“We’re attempting to create the ideal work environment with this campus-style facility,” Rydin said. “Our goal is to attract top talent who will stay with us a long time and provide the best possible service to our customers. The facility also will give us many options for working with and entertaining customers when they visit us.”

Among those: 10 conference rooms.

Founded in 1986, HCSS develops software for estimating, field management, resource management, fuel management, maintenance and construction data analytics. The company also provides implementation planning and training.

In an economic impact statement prepared for the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council, Rydin said the average salary of his company’s Sugar Land employees will be $65,000.

The project will result in an initial annual payroll of about $9.5 million, with annual Texas sales generated from the new facility of $1.3 million, the impact statement says. Also, the company’s business is expected to generate 2,160 or more annual hotel room stays in the Sugar Land area.

Stick your tongue back in! …
Now, doesn’t that feel good? Say, I love to jog all around my gameroom. It’s swell and keeps me breathing hard. Staying fit is healthy for your heart yanno. Between you & me, I do have a pretty big crush on granite, but it’s my hooping skills to scoring goals –that keeps me hooked.

    Ha, wishful “hoping” skills…

    Meanwhile:
Scoring back in my play days at the Summit, I loved watching the Rockets in action — live on the floor! It also helps if your hair is not styled pretty that day, because, ha I felt bad I messed them up.

Woowoo…look at how many jobs are expected to generate hotel rooms!!!

I imagine HCSS President Mike Rydin smiled happy, once Governor Rick Perry had this accolade to say:

“Fort Bend ISD is the Fittest School District in Texas!”
    ——-

Happy smiles continue — Bob had this accolade to say:

“HCSS is the latest of at least three deals reached this year to bring major corporate headquarters to Sugar Land.”
[link-up]: “newest-and possibly one of the most feature-rich - corporate headquarters.”

Hmm, sharing the exact history to tax-abatements I see, as County Commissioner’s Court & The Sugar Land City Council –share successful history together.
