The Lamar Educational Awards Foundation has announced six new members to its board of directors.
The new directors are Alicia Casias, Pam Dostal, Jim Gonzales, Marcia Holmes, Dorothy Puch-Lillig and Janet Neal.

“The new group of directors are expected to all bring a wealth of knowledge to L.E.A.F. in areas of management, marketing and community volunteering,” Lamar CISD’s Phillip Sulak said in a statement announcing the new appointees. “But most importantly, they are strong believers of what L.E.A.F. works to accomplish – helping to provide resources to the students and teachers of Lamar CISD.”
Serving as officers for L.E.A.F. this year are Lonnie Meadows, President; Judi Vernon, vice-president; Kenny Kucherka, treasurer; Teresa Gibson, secretary and Vincent Morales Jr., past-president.
Others serving on the L.E.A.F. board include Steve Crow, Liz Hamlett, Jennifer Hartmann, Melody Hess, Richard Hunton Jr., Tom McClung, Jim Miller and Barbara Minton. Also, Marjorie Pollard, Lisa Regan, Jan Russell, Andy Sanford, Robyn Stone, Bobbi Treacy and Tom Zachman.
L.E.A.F. awarded over $170,000 to LCISD teachers in the form of grants in November of last year.
L.E.A.F.’s first fundraiser of the year, “Men Who Cook 2009” sponsored by NewQuest Properties, is Feb. 21 at Safari Texas.
