Sugar Land Police Bust 4 In November Armed Robbery At Sweet Mesquite

Sugar Land police have arrested four Fort Bend County residents and charged them in a Nov. 16, 2008, restaurant robbery.

Arrested were Carmelita Rose Lubrano, 20, of Richmond; Quentin Levar Sowells, 21, Richmond; Brandon Joseph Antoine, 24, Rosenberg; and Xavier Wayne Griffin, 19, Rosenberg.

A police spokesman said Lubrano confessed to organizing the robbery, at a Sweet Mesquite restaurant at 4849 Sweetwater Boulevard.

Detectives believe Antoine and Griffin entered the restaurant at about 9:35 p.m. Nov. 16, as employees were preparing to close the restaurant.

“A gun was displayed and money was taken from a store safe,” the police spokesman said. “The manager was struck in the head with a crowbar while opening the same.

Police believe Antoine and Griffin left the restaurant and escaped in a vehicle driven by Sowells, who was waiting for them.

As far as jail time it’s considered a felony. The truth is that they only got $500. Is that not right or what ! How stupid can these people be ? As far as Charges it will be a fellony. There were TWO assults in a robbery. ONE was they had a gun and only though RUMOR I heard they shot through a window. As far as another assult they hit the Asst Manager over the head with a crow bar while he was opening the safe.. There is NO DOUBT everyone involved will get 7 years to 20.

What they don’t tell you in the article is that Carmelita is “Carmen” formally from Sweet mesquite. Some of you may remember her. She worked there over 2 years and was eventually an assistant manager. She was one of the BEST employees there. It’s sad to see that such a wonderful person can take such a BAD direction ! When she left SW about 6 months ago she hooked up with some “questionable” friends. I guess some of them were involved in this SAD crime. I hate to see the crime continue in this nice area. The last crime in this center was at the former coffee shop when a 16 year old was abducted by two of HER friends and Murdered ! Goes to show you that violent crime happens in the best of places without warning. I use to like Carmen but I have to agree with you all…May they ALL stay behind bars for many many years !

Honestly, I liked my Charles Dickens reference better than Cool Hand Luke. I guess, I’m just oldschool.

Wouldn’t it be great if we still had chain gangs? How about prisoners out working in the fields all day growing their
own food? Apparently the bleeding hearts think that’s cruel
and unusual and inmates should sit around watching TV all day
    in the air conditioning…

  7. Boss Shorty says:

You know, them chains ain’t medals. You get ‘em for making mistakes. And you make a *bad* enough mistake, and then you gotta deal with the Man. And he is one rough old boy.

  8. Boss Shorty says:

    Lock them up.

What we got here is… failure to communicate.
You run one time, you got yourself a set of chains. You run twice you got yourself two sets. You gonna get used to wearin’ them chains afer a while.

  9. MEGABITE says:

If it was up to me, I’d put them UNDER the prison…

  10. K.Stroup says:

Mega, come on now. Do you really want these punks to be like Dr. Manette in the Bastile? He was a hero for that old prison. These 4 are not heros.

Lock ‘em up and throw away the key!
