The United States Secret Service has been called in to investigate after counterfeit $20 and $50 bills turned up at several Katy ISD schools recently.
The fake bills were apparently passed in the cafeterias at four high schools and one elementary.
A bank used by the school district detected the funny money and notified the district and the Secret Service.
So far, authorities have been able to trace the counterfeits to Cinco Ranch, Seven Lakes, Morton Ranch and Mayde Creek high schools, as well as Hutsell Elementary. Geographically, the five schools are spread throughout the district.
The school district has announced that cafeterias will no longer accept any bills larger than $10.
The investigation is continuing.

These kids are getting more clever every day. I’m glad to see the school system at work.
