Richmond residents should be alert for city water bills that look different from the usual perforated post cards.
Beginning with the February mid-month billing cycle, residents will receive their bills mailed in an envelope, along with return envelopes – similar to other utility bills sent via the Postal Service.
“The information on the bill will be easier to read and provide more detail regarding water consumption,” the City of Richmond said in a statement. “There will continue to be information about water conservation included in the statement as well.
Residents who are paying their bill via direct draft from the bank accounts may continue to do so and will experience no change, the city said.
Also, residents eventually will be able to use a lock-box system to pay their bills, or they may pay online, the city said.
“It is the goal of the City of Richmond to provide its citizens with a safe and secure way to use city utilities while maintaining their privacy,” the city said.

Welcome to the 20th century Richmond…Whoooooopie!
