The City of Richmond has been awarded a certificate of recognition by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the quality of the city’s water system.
The water system was recognized for “exceptional compliance with the Total Coliform Rule requirements,” the city said in a statement.
The TCEQ program recognizes the effort, dedication, and contribution that public water supplies make to the state, and to protecting the public health of all citizens.
To receive an award such as the one Richmond received, a Texas public water system must have been active for at least 60 months, and must have had no total coliform rule violations for 60 months. The purpose of the program is to recognize cities’ commitments to protect public health, and provide opportunities for water system managers to interact with each other, national organizations, and the TCEQ.
