Fort Bend County residents with homes still damaged from Hurricane Ike may be able to get help with repairs.
“Fort Bend County has recovered well from the hurricane, but for those people who still have not repaired the damage to their homes yet, Gulf Coast Hurricane Ike Relief Fund money is still available,” said Fort Bend CORPS Executive Director Ron Castillo. “What the Fort Bend CORPS has found is that some people still need the financial assistance to repair their homes, but they don’t know where to find it.”
Money from the Gulf Coast Hurricane Ike Relief Fund may be available to those who don’t have home insurance, or who were turned down for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
To find out more, homeowners can call Fort Bend CORPS at 281-313-2677 or visit the organization’s web site.
Created by the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council in 1999, the Fort Bend CORPS says it exists “to improve the quality of life in Fort Bend County one home at a time.”
Fort Bend CORPS initiates and coordinates community efforts to revitalize low-income areas in Fort Bend County. The primary focus is to provide home repair assistance to restore safe and decent housing for low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners who are physically and financially unable to make needed repairs to their homes.
