Megan Kastner, 25, was arrested Tuesday by Rosenberg police after the department conducted what it called “a thorough investigation” that “found enough evidence to request a warrant for Kastner’s arrest.

According to a statement by the Rosenberg Police Department, the warrant was issued by Fort Bend County Court-at-Law Judge Sandy Bielstein.

Kastner is being held in the county jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District administrators issued a statement Feb. 25 saying a first-year Lamar High teacher, who wasn’t named at the time, “admitted to an inappropriate relationship with a student outside of the school setting.” As of the time of that statement, “she is no longer employed with the district.”

“In Lamar CISD, the well being of every student takes precedence over everything else that we do. In this instance, one of our employees made a serious mistake,” the statement concluded. “In no sense can the district condone or defend her decisions or actions.”

Amanda, I AGREE. This wasn’t a kid. He was 18. Yes she made a mistake but she went HERSELF and admitted her wrong and faced everything ALONE. She knew what would happen to her, but she wanted to make things right. I have known Megan since 2nd grade and she is an amazing person, teacher, and friend. You know I understand that this was wrong, it was a student yes, but he DID persue her. High School kids know what they are doing, it’s not as if she sought him out. She has an amazing spirt and would never hurt anyone, she will pay for her mistake for the rest of her life. She wasnt one of those teachers that snuck around in the halls persuing children, come on. I’m behind her and pray that everything works itself out.

i know this person and this is totally out of the norm…. completely. there has to be something there to explain what happened. i’m defending her to the bitter end cause shes a great person and this is just a character flub. i can’t even explain it, but she doesn’t deserve to be trash talked. you don’t know the circumstances that were present with just the two. people are known to make bad choices… she knows, we all know that this is going to sting her and is going to follow her now… that doesn’t mean though that shes still not a great person. i still and always will consider her a great friend.

This woman is an AMAZING person. I have known her all my life, we grew up and graduated high school together. I think it’s ridiculous that she’s being treated the way that she is. This was not a CHILD whom she took advantage of … it was a young man that knew what he was doing. It’s not fair that her life gets ruined, her teaching career gets thrown away and she that she now probably has to be a registered sex offender. Megan is a wonderful teacher and I would NEVER be afraid to leave my children under her care. I am in tears over this and I just pray that the world will not view her as some perverted piece of trash that deserves to have the book thrown at her. I know her very well and yes, she made a mistake, but she went to the school and admitted it BEFORE anyone else had anything to say about it. That doesn’t justify it, but keep in mind that this was NOT with a 12,13 or 14 year old. This was with a teenager who knew exactly what he was doing, just as she did. It takes two, and it’s completely unfair that she’s going through this. I have not lost ANY respect for my friend, Megan, and I know that she is one of the most wonderful people in the entire world.

No one ever said there were (not) two sides to every story…here’s the thing: I am reading “there is enough evidence”. That is seems (fair or not) is enough for LCISD to do the only thing to pacify all of the parents at all of the schools. It appears the stance is better safe than sorry. It’s not about pre-conceived judgment, it’s about what the DA’s found to be “enough evidence” to thus prove or disprove.

    God bless.

Omg, this is bananas. I know this teacher and she has made a huge impact on my life. She’s a good person who actually helps others. Its crazy how people are quick to judge her and don’t know the whole story. She’s innocent. Besides who are we to judge others. The student who was the “victim” is being glorified for this. He’s a petty football player who wants attention. Please realize that there are two sides to every story. God Bless.

Kudos to Judge Bielstein & LCISD for their efforts to pursue cases such as this– with vigilance!

This is happening all over the country. Go to http://www.schoolteachernews.com and click on the Scandal page. This year they have documented almost 100 of these types of incidents. Last year they found 479 of these kinds of cases.

Wow, $30,000 bond? A parent has to respect that…
