BalletForte will be hosting some 600 pre-professional dancers and dance professionals March 20-22 for the Regional Dance America – Southwest Festival.
The dancers will be here to take part in a series of educational and performance opportunities.
With activities planned for Sugar Land Town Square and the Stafford Centre, dancers representing Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas will have a full schedule of events over three days in Fort Bend County.
The festival will feature three performances showcasing the member companies of Regional Dance America – Southwest, as well as master classes taught daily by well-known dance instructors.
Regional Dance America is an association of ballet companies with memberships reaching across the country. Founded in 1988, it continues the work of the National Association for Regional Ballet, which contributed to the decentralization of dance.
As regional companies grew in stature and quality, the five regional
Organizations – the Mid-States, the Northeast, the Pacific, the Southwest and the Southeast – were established.
The mission of RDA-Southwest is to promote artistic excellence in dance through education, choreography and performing opportunities for member companies.
The purpose of the festival is to provide educational and performing opportunities for students with a serious commitment to their arts education.
