Fort Bend Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 7 p.m.

Potentially dangerous weather is moving through the Fort Bend County area and the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 7 p.m.

STORMY SKIES – The Fort Bend area is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7 p.m. Conditions are right for the development of severe storms with heavy rains, strong winds and possible hail.

Eight counties in the Houston area are covered by the watch. Those counties include Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Matagorda and Wharton.

 

Cities covered by the severe thunderstorm watch include:

-         Angleton

-         Bay City

-         Edna

-         El Campo

-         Freeport

-         Friendswood

-         Galveston

-         Houston

-         Humble

-         Katy

-         Lake Jackson

-         League City

-         Missouri City

-         Mont Belvieu

-         Palacios

-         Pasadena

-         Pearland

-         Pierce

-         Richmond

-         Rosenberg

-         Sugar Land

-         Texas City

-         Tomball

-         Wharton

-         Winnie

 

A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of a storm that may contain heavy rains, strong winds and possible hail.

 

The weather service is urging residents in the Fort Bend area to remain alert for the development of severe weather and to remain tuned to local media or NOAA Weather Radio for bulletins.
