Detectives Traveling To Interview ‘Person Of Interest’ In Case Of Missing Katy Man

Fort Bend County sheriff’s detectives and a Texas Ranger will travel to Georgia today seeking clues in the disappearance of a Katy man.

Spencer Wallace Vogt, 19, was reported missing by his family, after having been unable to contact him since about 3 p.m. Friday, the county Sheriff’s Office said in a statement released Monday night.

A law enforcement source familiar with the case said detectives believe Vogt met another man online, then met him in person in Houston “and went on from there.”

Vogt’s black 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse was recovered Monday in Georgia, the source said, being driven by the man Vogt is believed to have met in Houston.

That man now is considered a “person of interest” in the case, and investigators for both the sheriff’s office and the Texas Rangers will travel to an as-yet undisclosed location in Georgia to interview the man, who is being held by police.

“We were out looking at the guy’s Houston apartment til 3 a.m.,” the law enforcement source said.

Vogt is described as a white man standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 188 pounds, with brown hair and bluish-green eyes. He was last seen wearing a green Hollister sweater, blue jeans and flip-flops. He also has a light blue star tattoo behind his left ear.

The sheriff’s statement said Vogt is hearing-impaired.

Anyone with information about Vogt’s location is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 281-341-4665, or call anonymously to Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.
