First FBISD Candidates’ Forum Kicks Off Tonight In Sugar Land

The first candidates’ forum in the race for two Fort Bend Independent School District board seats takes place tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the Sugar Land Marriott Hotel on Town Square.

The event is being hosted by the Fort Bend Employee Federation, which represents about 2,000 district employees.

Three candidates – Bruce Albright, Rodrigo Carreon and Marilyn Glover – are running for the Position 6 board seat being vacated by Steve Smelley.

Two candidates are running for Position 2 – incumbent trustee and Board President Sonal Bhuchar, and challenger Carlos Cain.

Candidates participating in tonight’s forum will have the opportunity to address issues affecting the school district, as they vie for the endorsement of the Fort Bend Employee Federation and affiliated Texas Federation of Teachers.

The public is invited to attend the forum.
