Sugar Land police are seeking the public’s help finding a man who withdrew $2,200 from a bank using a stolen credit card.
The incident occurred on March 19, after a woman told the Sugar Land Police Department her wallet was taken from her purse while she was eating lunch with friends.
She said she had been dining at Japaneiros, at 2168 Texas Drive, and had placed her unzipped purse on the back of her chair. A police department spokesman said she noticed the wallet was gone when she attempted to pay for the meal.
Later that same day, “a man was seen using the woman’s credit card to withdraw money at Washington Mutual Bank,” at 8575 West Loop South, the spokesman said.
The man was described as 30 to 40 years old, Hispanic, with a thin build, short, dark hair and a receding hairline.
The police department released a photo of him captured by a bank security camera.
Anyone with information about the theft or the credit card incident is asked to call Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540, or call anonymously to Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-8477.
