The competition was held recently at Willowridge High School.

The award presentation was made by the Sugar Land Rotary Club on behalf of the Buster Court family, several of whom were in attendance for the ceremony at the Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land.

The trophy was commissioned by the Court family to honor Buster Court, a World War II veteran and survivor of the infamous Bataan Death March.  Upon returning from the war, Court was elected constable for Precinct 3 in Fort Bend County, serving more than 30 years.

The competition included Fort Bend ISD JROTC teams, with more than 250 cadets taking part in various categories and events. Events included physical fitness, marksmanship, color guard, personnel inspections, basic and exhibition drill and rocketeering.

The Bush Bronco NJROTC is commanded by Cadet Commander Kristina Villarin, a senior who has been accepted for admission to the University of Texas. Villarin is assisted by executive officer Cadet Lt. Commander Victor Romero, also a senior and accepted for admission to Baylor University.

Junior ROTC is an elective course offered at every Fort Bend ISD high school.
