Richmond Police Respond To Numerous Car Break-ins On Same Street

Richmond police responded to at least seven motor vehicle burglary calls early Friday, all on the same street.

The calls came from residents in the 1700 and 1800 block of Cypress, who noticed as they were preparing for work that their vehicles had been broken into, a Richmond Police Department spokesman said.

“It appears that most of the vehicles were left unlocked while parked,” the spokesman said. “So far it has been determined that items ranging from wallets to a purse to a radio” and a front license plate were taken.

“This is a reminder to always lock your vehicles even if they are in your driveway,” the department said in a statement. ” Also, never keep items of value in your vehicle where they are visible to others.”
