A Sugar Land man arrested Monday and charged in two bank robberies also has been charged with the attempted robbery of a third bank.
Abdul Rehman, 45, has been charged with the attempted robbery of a First Bank branch at 1735 Lake Pointe Parkway. That attempt apparently was aborted when a bank employee recognized Rehman from a flyer passed out by Sugar Land Police Department detectives.
The employee apparently did something to scare Rehman away, as he fled the bank without obtaining any money, according to a police spokesman.
With the help of bank employees and an unidentified citizen who followed Rehman’s vehicle, the robbery suspect was detained and arrested on Monday.
In addition to the attempted robbery charge, he has been charged with robbery of a First Community Bank branch at 2735 Town Center Blvd. on April 18, and a Houston Community Bank branch at 19855 Southwest Freeway on May 20.
