STORAGE SPACE NEEDED – Fulshear Police Chief Scott Head explains his department’s need to lease storage space to house a growing inventory of evidence and seized assets.

The Fulshear City Council authorized the mayor to sign the lease agreement during this week’s meeting.

Police Chief Scott Head said as his department’s activity increases, so does the amount of material being taken into evidence. Space in the current storage area at city hall is extremely limited, the chief explained.

“We’re running into investigations where we’re starting to make some seizures,” Head told the council. “We recently seized $2,000 worth of Hardie plank from a construction site theft case.”

He also said a large amount of construction material the department recently seized had to be stored in a parking area behind city hall, cordoned off only by yellow “police line” tape.

Head said the storage facility being leased was large enough to meet the department’s needs, including being able to hold seized vehicles. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has a similar agreement with the storage facility, he said.

Fulshear re-established its police department less than two years ago after going without a municipal force for eight years.

City council approved leasing the storage space in a unanimous vote.

Why don’t “Barney Fife” just store the stuff over at “Goober’s” gas station? That way when Aunt B, is cooking homemade apple pie for “Barney” Goober can keep an eye on them there boards of hardiplank!

After all, they should bring a high dollar at the next auction,…..maybe $25,00,.

Let’s see, lets pay 10 times the value of some boards for a place to keep them,…great planning!
