Houston Man Gets 14 Years In Prison For Taco Bell Armed Robbery

A Houston man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after a Fort Bend County jury convicted him of a June 2008 armed robbery.

Justin Jerome Alexander, 24, was charged in a June 30, 2008 robbery outside a Stafford Taco Bell restaurant at U.S. 59 and Dairy Ashford Road. Prosecutors identified him as an evacuee from Hurricane Katrina living in Houston.

According to Assistant Fort Bend County District Attorney John Hawkins, the restaurant’s manager, Gene Bogan, left for the parking lot to go make a bank deposit when a car drove up with two masked men inside.

One, identified at a trial before 268th District Court Judge Brady Elliott, jumped out, threw Bogan to the ground and demanded keys to the restaurant’s safe, “while thrusting a sawed-off shotgun at Bogan’s throat,” Hawkins said, adding that Alexander also clubbed Bogan’s arm with the butt of the shotgun, causing in an injury that required surger.

According to evidence at the trial, cashier Sylvia Sanders witnessed the robbery and saw the robbers’ car as it left that day. More than a month later, while driving in southwest Houston, she saw the same car, and called 911 reporting the license plate number.

Detectives found the car was registered to Alexander, and the plate number eventually led to his arrest.

After convicting him, the jury sentenced Alexander to 14 years, at least half of which must be served before he is eligible for parole.

How much money could you possibly get from a Taco Bell that would be worth any time in jail? Drugs do make you stupid! or is that stupider?
