Richmond-area Man Goes On Trial In 2006 Stabbing Death Of His Wife

Jury selection was under way this morning in the murder trial of Victor Zavala Jr., who’s accused of stabbing his wife to death in 2006 after learning she was leaving him.

Karen Goodspeed-Zavala, then 47, was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston late on the morning of March 23, 2006, with multiple stab wounds in her upper torso, according to Fort Bend County sheriff’s reports at the time.

She died in the hospital that afternoon.

Victor Zavala Jr., 42 at the time, was arrested that day on a murder charge.

FortBendNow reported at the time that Goodspeed-Zavala had called movers to her apartment that morning, in the Reserve at Riverpark West on Wildwood Park Road near Richmond.

Her husband arrived at the apartment and saw that she was moving out. According to sheriff’s reports, he locked the movers out of the apartment at about 9:45 a.m. while he and his wife remained inside. One of the movers made a 911 call to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrived shortly after, but Goodspeed-Zavala already had been stabbed several times with a knife. She was survived by two teenage daughters.

FortBendNow requested the 911 call tape, but sheriff’s officials declined to release it, saying it was vital to the investigation of the killing.

Jury selection is expected to continue this morning in 434th District Judge Jim Shoemake’s court, with the trial possibly beginning this afternoon.

This is nothing but the waste of finance and corruption in all these courts as well as the District Attorney office. It is time with the citizens start to over haul all these people and get people into office who will not use these courts and their position for political reward and stop this good olde buddy system. Take a look at these judges who operate court that should be retired due to their ages. They are not following the Texas laws and doing all types of corruption. Look how the courts are not open for the adult public.
But the court that show be closed due to a juvenile is open court. That is the court should be closed due to the privacy of the varies court procedures and to protect the juvenile records, name and age etc.
This is very important we need to think about getting change and looking to pattern after other counties to make change to our justice system here in Fort Bend County. They want to spend our tax payer dollars but what about stopping all this political corruption, with so many of these unstable questionable lack of judgment, these people even has had court on defendants that was not in there juridiction etc. Then when you have defendants that does have mental issues they want to prosecute, without counsel, appoint counsel that does nothing for the defendants, just corrupt, they used the same appointed counsel over and over. These are the many games this justice system in Fort Bend County has been doing to the citizens of Fort Bend County for years and we need to give them a message by going to the voting polls and voting them out.

I know it is an Attorney here in Fort Bend that can do a better job than what has been taking place here for many years can manage and supervised these staff, employee in a more honest, as a leader, follow the laws of state and federal, not allow the staff fabricate evidences, and respect and work for all the citizens of Fort Bend County. It is against the law to murder and perform conspiracy to get a person kill. Every one has a right to live no matter what your race, creed, religious, or a person beliefs etc. Even if a person is set up by the police, court systems, and District Attorneys office, place in various data base etc, he or she has a right to live no one has a right to kill anyone and the AlMighty God will judge that person on his or her date because this super being knows all you will not be able to fool or get away with this criminal act even if it was a hire to kill a person as so many cowards to.
