Missouri City’s 25th annual Independence Day festival will feature live music, family activities, a variety of food and, of course, a fireworks display to cap off the celebration.

The celebration will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. July 4 at Buffalo Run Park, located at 1122 Buffalo Run Drive just east of Texas Parkway.

Break Shop, a troupe of high-energy acrobatic break dancers will perform every hour starting at 5:45 p.m.

Starting at 6 p.m., the Tejas Brothers band will take the main stage with a blend of Texas Blues, country soul, rock and roll and Tejano music.

Also featured will be Dance Heads, a video program that superimposes participants’ heads onto the bodies of professional dancers as they sing along to hit songs. Other activities will include stilt walkers, pet adoptions, a gyroscope, a basketball toss, face painting and family-oriented games and activities.

A variety of food will be available such as barbecue, turkey legs, sweet kettle corn, cotton candy, shaved ice, snow cones and soft drinks.

The fireworks show will be held over the lake starting at about 9 p.m.

Parking will be available at the adjacent Thurgood Marshall High School and Lakeview Business Park.
