The developers of Sugar Land’s Lake Pointe Town Center have officially announced the future presence of a 214-room, 135,000-square-foot Hyatt Place hotel.
FortBendNow has reported on plans for the hotel since 2007. Sugar Land City Council gave final approval for the project in late October 2008.
Woodbine Development Corp. of Dallas and Hyatt Hotels & Resorts of Chicago have formed a joint venture to develop the Sugar Land hotel, which will represent just the second Hyatt Place in greater Houston.
The concept was launched in 2006, and now includes more than 135 hotels in the U.S., including a Hyatt Place recently opened by Woodbine and Hyatt in Gilbert, Ariz., just east of Phoenix. No specific opening date has been set for the Sugar Land hotel.
Hyatt Place guest rooms include free wireless Internet access, separate work and sleep areas, 42-inch flat-panel, high-definition TV, the “Hyatt Grand Bed,” an 8-foot sectional sofa-sleeper and a plug panel allowing guests to connect portable media devices directly into the high definition TV.
“In the gallery, or public space, guests are greeted by a gallery host who can assist them with everything from check-in to preparing a freshly made meal or snack,” Planned Community Developers said in a statement. “The gallery also features two self-registration kiosks, a 24-hour guest kitchen, Bakery Café, a coffee and wine bar and an e-room offering public computers and a printer.”
Hyatt Director of Development Jason Gregorek and Woodbine Hyatt Place development director King Scovell represented the Hyatt-Woodbine partnership in their transaction with PCD. PCD President Les Newton represented his company.

Oh man that thing is ugly! It looks like it’s still being built; not completed.
