Texas House Speaker Joe Strauss has appointed District 27 State Rep. Dora Olivo to the National Conference of State Legislatures Education Committee.
The NCSL is a bipartisan organization serving legislators and staffs of all 50 U.S. states, commonwealths adn territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on state issues.
“Representative Olivo has shown a true commitment to the students of our state and has worked hard to improve the quality of education for all,” Strauss said. “I am certain that she will provide invaluable insight and leadership to the committee.”
“I am grateful to Speaker Strauss for appointing me to this committee,” Olivo said. “I look forward to working together with lawmakers from across the country, each dedicated to educating the next generation of leaders of our nation. It is my fervent wish that through our work in improving the quality of education our children will be ready to take on the challenges of a college education and whatever career they pursue.”

Congratulations to representative Olivo! It is my hope that she can change the attitudes of legislators of the past administration and get them to look at public education as more than just an entitlement program.
