Fort Bend County Commissioners Court members are scheduled to consider authorizing more than $5 million in payments Tuesday for work performed on the new county jail tower and justice center.
The county Facilities Management & Planning Department is requesting payment of about $4.2 million to Turner Construction for that company’s work on the jail expansion project, adjacent to the current jail and Sheriff’s Office on Williams Way in Richmond.
Facilities management also is requesting the court approve about $1.6 million to JE Dunn South Central Inc. for construction services at the Justice Center, also on Williams Way across from the jail, where foundation and site work has begun.
Both items are on the court’s consent agenda where they typically are bundled with a dozen or more other agenda items and voted on in a block.
The court also is scheduled to consider approving a utility agreement between the county, the state and Houston Pipeline Co. for work on the Katy-Flewellen Road improvement project. Under that agreement, the county could pay up to $344,576 for unspecified work.
The county Engineering Department also seeks court approval of an engineering services agreement with AIA Engineers Ltd. for work on a bridge on Old Richmond Road at Red Gully, at an amount not to exceed $107,654.
Also, the county Purchasing Department is seeking court action to authorize contract negotiations with Crain Zamora for renovations of the Jane Long Annex building in Richmond.
