FBISD Holding Community Meeting To Discuss Program For Improved Student Achievement

The Fort Bend Independent School District Board of Trustees is inviting the community to attend an Aug. 4 presentation about plans to improve student achievement.

Those plans involve a continuing partnership, established in 2006, with the Leadership and Learning Center.

Dr. Douglas Reeves, founder of the center, “will describe how Fort Bend ISD has created a foundation to support student success through the development of a District Comprehensive Accountability Framework, or “Holistic Accountability Plan.”

Components of that plan include district and campus “improvement indicators” and programs to improve professional development for educators, the district said in a prepared statement.

Dr. Reeves also will discuss ideas “for family and community support for student success.” After his presentation, Reeves will respond to audience questions.

Parents, grandparents and anyone else interested in helping the children they love are welcome to attend. The event will be held Aug. 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room at the district’s Administration Building, at 16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land.

Dr. Reeves has worked with education, business, nonprofit and government organizations throughout the world. The author of more than 20 books and many articles on leadership and organizational effectiveness, he has twice been named to the Harvard University of Distinguished Authors Series.

I wonder if Mr. Reeves plan involves criminal charges against parents who take their child to Europe for a week and therefore miss a few days of school role calling and vending machine lunches. I also wonder why private schools would never do this? Just thinking,… or is that also something that we are no longer allowed to do? Fascism takes small steps, in the beginning.
