The Greater Katy Exchange Club recently presented Fort Bend County Pct. 3 Constable Rob Cook with an American Flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Cook being named Exchange’s 2009 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.

Earlier this year, Cook was honored as top law enforcement officer by the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast District Exchange Clubs at the organization’s 44th Annual Crime Prevention Dinner.

Since the flag was not available during the earlier ceremony, the local Exchange Club presented the flag in a separate ceremony.

Cook is a 28-year law enforcement veteran and has served as Fort Bend County Pct. 3 Constable since 1988. He has also been involved in a number of community service efforts, including coaching basketball and baseball for more than 15 years.

Cook also serves as vice president of Dream Catchers USA, a national nonprofit organization providing outdoor experiences for physically-challenged children and those who are terminally ill.

Additionally, Cook and his staff have volunteered the past three years in the Exchange Club booth at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival, providing child identification fingerprinting. During the two-day event, officers typically fingerprint between 500-600 children.

The Greater Katy Exchange Club meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Vida Loca Mexican Bar and Grill, 21810 Kingsland Blvd. Visitors are welcome to attend.
