Rosenberg Council Recognizes Efforts To Account Of Prisoners Of War And Those Missing In Action

At their regular meeting, Rosenberg City Council issued a proclamation naming Sept. 18, 2009 POW/MIA Recognition Day.   In his presentation, Mayor Joe M. Gurecky noted that more than 93,000 Americans have served in foreign lands and are still counted as Prisoners of War or Missing in Action and asked that their “sacrifice, dedication, and love for their county” be remembered by the people of Rosenberg “joining together in efforts to bring home or account for our POW’s and MIA’s unaccounted for.”

Senior Vice-Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3903 Tom Atkins, a Vietnam veteran, and Bertha Nell Kelm, President of VFW Post 3903 District 16 Ladies Auxiliary, accepted the proclamation.
