The community is invited to join Katy ISD in celebrating the dedication of its newest campus, Stan Stanley Elementary School.![]()
Ceremonies will take place at the school, 26633 Cinco Terrace Dr., on Sunday, Oct. 4. The program will begin at 3 p.m. with a reception immediately afterward.
The school is named after long-time Katy-area civic leader Stan C. Stanley. A resident of Katy since 1977, Stanley has volunteered his time to the district in a wide variety of roles, including Junior Achievement, Classroom Champions, Promise to Read and Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success (KEYS), the district’s mentoring program.
Between his volunteerism with the school district and a 50-year commitment to the Boy Scouts of America, Stanley has managed to touch the lives of Katy ISD students both in and out of the classroom, district officials noted.
Stanley also served on several district-wide committees, including the nationally recognized Leadership Katy program and the Partners in Education Advisory Committee. Additionally, he served as a member of the district’s 2002 and 2006 Bond Committees.
In 2006, Stanley was recognized by the State Board of Education as a Hero for Children, which recognizes public school volunteers who have been strong advocates for Texas school children.
Stanley is also an organizing member of the Katy Area Economic Development Council and served as Chairman of the Board for the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce in 2001. In 2002, Stanley received the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award.
Stanley Elementary, which opened at the beginning of the school year, currently has 818 students enrolled in grades K-5. The principal is Kerri Finnesand and the assistant principal is Tara Bailey.
The school was designed by SBWV Architects, Inc., and built by Gamma Construction Co. The construction project manager for Katy ISD was Art Campbell.

This should be exciting!
