Tomorrow’s special spaghetti dinner benefiting Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Major Jerry Clements will be served on a brighter note in the wake of reports the veteran lawman is showing some improvement.
Clements has been hospitalized for more than a month with a serious medical condition.
The spaghetti dinner will be held at the new location of the Gus George Training Academy, 1521 Williams Way. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 1000 plates are served.
FBSO spokesperson Terriann Carlson shared several recent notes from Clements’ wife, Janet, describing his improving condition.
In one message from last Thursday, Janet Clements said her husband was up and walking, but still faced weeks of continued treatment.
“Jerry is doing well…getting stronger and doing amazing at physical therapy. He walks every afternoon with me,” message said. “The kidney doctor told us today all numbers are better and if they stay this good, (the doctor) has no objection to surgery in four weeks.”
In a message from Monday, Janet Clements said the physical therapy continues to go well and thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
“We just can’t say ‘thank you’ enough,” she said.
Clements, a veteran Fort Bend County law enforcement officer, has undergone multiple surgeries and remains under treatment at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He currently commands the sheriff’s office enforcement bureau.
Money raised from tomorrows benefit will help defray his overwhelming and rapidly-escalating medical expenses, as well as assist his family with expenses related to Clements’ medical treatment.
Each plate will feature the spaghetti sauce that has been a three-time winner at the Sugar Land Exchange Club Spaghetti Cook-Off, along with corn, salad, garlic bread and dessert.
The cost will be $10 per plate.

Pink “polka” dot dress. If you’re a Sheriff Wright supporter, you may very well know me.
I would have introduced myself as Noam. Chomsky is my last name. Perhaps you have seen my website, Kat?

Describe yourself, I was there @ 12:30. Perhaps we did meet.
Hi Patriot Missive! I arrived @ 11:30. In between everyone coming & going, it was a still a wonderful opportunity to exactly say why my support is appreciated. So did we have the advantage of meeting?
Open your eyes littleman, there was a fundraiser because there was a problem. A man did not get sick and say, “Wow I feel like putting on a giant spaghetti dinner.” When we see problems we try to address them in the most beneficial way possible. Our health care system is on life support. That is a fact. We need a health care system that protects us all from physical and fiscal ruin. Mr. Clement’s health issues are not unique, but he does have some very caring friends.
Did I see you at the fundraiser, littleman? Of course not.
Any excuse to push the rhetoric. Give it a rest for once. Shameful.
Everything is not a conspiracy, minichew, but everything is political, and in this case, if we care for our neighbors, we should demand a health care system that does not break us all, one at a time, physically, fiscally, and of course emotionally. We should also buy the spaghetti and be grateful for good friends.
Figured you’d turn this political. Not surprising at all…
Well… Kat,
Out of respect for the real problem, I did not thank anyone for the “wonderful opportunity.” The problem with this “opportunity” is that even with health insurance, health care in our country bankrupts people everyday. This was a fundraiser, so that Mr. Clements could avoid that added trauma.
My hope is that Mr. Clements recovers physically and fiscally, and that our country pushes for a health care system that will do the same for everyone.
Also, god bless those who put on the fundraiser.
Wow, exchanging smiles with you guys — how cool was that?
It’s nice to support familiar faces, especially feeling the hugs. We certainly wish Major Clements a full recovery. Thank you so very much for this wonderful opportunity to get to know our LEO’s!
Czech ya’ll forward to our future “warm & friendly” Sugar Land Exchanges!
The spaghetti is great and the people are delightful. I just got back myself, and I highly recommend this lunch or dinner for all of Sugar Land and Richmond. Oh, I guess they would let Rosenberg in too.
My sentiments exactly! I support you guys… hope to make it out today =)
I hope he makes a full recovery.
I’ll be first in line at the Gus George Training Academy, 1521 Williams Way at 11:00 tomorrow. Don’t anybody get in my way.
I am so happy to hear of Mr. Clement’s improvement.
