Missouri City has been without a hospital since 2006, when Herman Memorial left the property on Hwy. 6 that is now home to a Lowe’s home improvement store. Soon after, city representatives were talking about an imminent groundbreaking at Sienna Plantation for a Christus Hospital system facility.

It’s not a road to nowhere, but it’s not a road to a Christus hospital, either.
Sienna even has a street named “Sienna Christus Drive” that runs through the property once expected to become a hospital. The land, however, is now for sale, and Missouri City representatives say the hospital has no plans to build.
City representatives could not provide any information on why the plan fell through.
FortBendNow.com has asked the city if the street name will remain the same, and will provide an update when that information is made available. FortBendNow.com also has an interview planned later this month with the CEO for the Christus Gulf Coast region, and will have an updated story on why the hospital was never built.

Maybe if you take your meds troll before you remove your dentures tonight…..hahaha

There’s one of those QBs now…excellent timing.
Well if that ain’t the pot calling the kettle black…
Naaa, it’s MUCH MUCH easier to playing monday morning quarterback anonymously on an internet messageboard.
Perhaps you should run for office. Oh brother.
‘A statesman does what he believes is best for his country, a politician does what best gets him reelected.’ I haven’t seen a statesman in these parts for years.
Honestly, I don’t think the street name is that big of an issue. Sure, people may be confused by the name, but in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t going to deter people from driving past it or buying a home.
The bigger issue is why we don’t have a hospital in our fair community. It is not like we are a one-horse town. There are more entities out there than just than Methodist (Sugar Land), St. Luke’s (Sugar Land), Memorial (formerly Missouri City) and Christus… although we are starting to hit the bottom of the barrel. Perhaps it is time to think outside the box – such as contacting Baylor College of Medicine or UT Health Science Center and seeing if they want to build a ‘teaching’ hospital or clinic out in these parts.

“We don’t have an aggressive enough City Council, which is always being one-upped by Sugar Land… The attitude of MoCity’s City Council stinks. They have a limited, negative view of the City’s potential and they refuse to change long-standing attitudes which scare off businesses.”
I agree. Our City is short sided and lacking in the creativity department. Mikhail Gorbachev once said, “What is the difference between a statesman and a politician? A statesman does what he believes is best for his country, a politician does what best gets him reelected.” The funny thing is that in Missouri City, we have forms of politicians who do what they believe is best for them (not the City) as well as whatever it takes to get reelected.
That’s right, a failed hospital when a city has none since 2006 and the duplicity of cover-up is just a “liberal” conspiracy to sneak healthcare through congress.
Yes fake conservative (charlie). That is hilarious! Good one, now go back to defending the cronies who feed our tax dollars to their machine boys.–Sounds like a washing machine to me. LOL
PS For the rest of you interested on this topic and the cover-up. Do searches on this site, the chronicle and missouricitychatter. Use the search term Christus Hospital. That should produce the appropriate archives for this, as our fake conserative puts it, “conspiracy”.
–Oh, I forgot, what if you aren’t supporting the presidents healthcare plan, is it still a conspiracy charlie, our special interest “conman”? And why would people who supported bringing this private non-profit hospital to MC be supporting nationalized medicine? YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP! . . . ;-)
PPS I love when you talk to yourself mega/jbb(now ftbendconman)…..very big smile…..
its a typical liberal ploy Mega, try to get people’s attn on street signs as congress sneaks a $trillion$ Obamacare bill through at night.
No one would be confused. It’s just a street name. A bunch of hoopla over nothing.
For more background on this use these searches (try the chron too) for multiple sources of information:
1) http://www.fortbendnow.com/?s=Christus+Hospital
2) http://missouricitychatter.blogspot.com/search?q=Christus
From my reading the city was working very hard before the 2006 re-election bid of the developer backed mayor Allen Owen to keep the Christus failure information from the public because he had use the hospital to justify the nearly 2700 apartments coming to that community.
PS “ftbendconman” (charlie) will just give you the official spin from the city boys.
I like the upside down sign idea MoRes, but they really should remove the sign so new home buyers won’t be confused.
I read an article that said it was because not enough doctors would relocate their practices and wouldn’t invest in the area. You learn something new everyday. Shouldn’t the city not of made such a big deal about it then with big public relations releases if it wasn’t a done deal?
The reason MC doesn’t have a Christus Hosp is Christus is located in NOs and they were devastated financially by Katrina. Somehow in some small minds this is MC’s fault.
The reason why we don’t have a hospital are two-fold. We don’t have an aggressive enough City Council, which is always being one-upped by Sugar Land and that we have the east end of Fort Bend County to deal with and the vast migrant population there which overtaxes emergency rooms. The attitude of MoCity’s City Council stinks. They have a limited, negative view of the City’s potential and they refuse to change long-standing attitudes which scare off businesses.
How about naming it “SHOW ME” but install the sign upside down?
That is correct true.
PS Must be that narcissism you suffer from charlie. Now go soak your denture dummy.
